Zantana is a beautiful chestnut gelding with a flaxen mane and tail. He is very well trained and easy to ride and handle. Travis Braden, one of the top Arabian western trainers in the country, started him under saddle. Travis teaches all of his horses to stop on a dime from any gait and Zantana hasn’t forgotten that lesson. He has a very good stop from any gait. After learning the basics, Kat Stevens (formerly Trowbridge), a nationally known Arabian performance trainer, trained him to show Hunter Pleasure. January 2010, Kat showed him at the Class A Houston All Arab show in the Open class and the Championship, placing 3 rd out of 6 and 3rd out of 8 in his classes. That was a very good placing for his first show. You can see in his video that he still carries himself like a show horse. It would be very easy to put him back in training and start showing again. He has pretty and smooth gaits, so he would also be able to easily transition to lower level dressage training and showing also.

His owner is riding him once a week in the arena and fields at home to keep him ridden and make sure he doesn’t forget his good training. They are now into showing cutting horses and are in the process of selling their Arabians. Hank rode him on the trail alone at our place and he not only did everything Hank asked, he seemed to really enjoy being out on the trail. He only “spooked” one time by stopping and looking, no spinning, jumping or other Arabian antics. Watch how easily he handles opening and closing the gates on the trail and how calmly he goes back to a walk after cantering up a hill. Zantana is a real pleasure to ride.

He is used to having pasture turn out as well as a nice show type barn during bad weather and will do best in that type of environment. He is an affectionate horse that needs someone that will pay a lot of attention to him and enjoys a well-trained horse. He is not a horse for a real beginner, but an advanced beginner or intermediate rider could easily ride him.
