Romeo is a beautiful, affectionate horse with lots of personality. He loves to be groomed, fed treats and wants a lot of attention. He will come to you in the pasture and tries to get your attention in the barn with easy to read facial expressions. His grandsire is National Champion *Aladdinn and his dam is a racebred mare by Cassels Roszlem+. He also has the famous *Sambor++ as a great grandsire. Romeo was a winning show horse in halter and sport horse classes before he was put under saddle. Then he went to the race track for a few months, but he did not have the speed they wanted. We were looking at horses at Lone Star Race Track and he kept grabbing Hank's jacket and saying "pick me", so we did. He came to our place with his new owner at age 4 and has been here ever since. He has perfect ground manners, cross ties, bathes, clips, hauls, stands quietly for the farrier, tacking up, etc. He is also a very good boy under saddle. He will side pass, back up, turn on the hindquarters and turn on the forehand. You can open and close gates easily with him, cross logs, creeks, etc. He would be great on obstacles in competitive trail. He prefers to lead on the trail and doesn't spook unless another horse spooks first. He also behaves when following other horses or traveling in the middle of a group. He will maintain the trail pace you set on a loose rein, but if you ride with a tight rein he will lean into the bit and pull on you. If you know how to put a horse on the bit, it is easy to do with Romeo. He will round his neck, tuck his nose and carry himself perfectly. Romeo loves going down the trail and has a very smooth trot. He is perfect for the person that wants a true partner for trail riding, competitive trail or a person that likes a well-trained horse for slow endurance riding with goals based more on mileage or completing a few limited distance rides. Romeo wants a person that pays a lot of attention to him, listens to him, takes him on scenic trails, lets him hang out in the pasture with his buddies on his day off and provides him with treats, good shelter and a blanket in bad weather. He loves to gallop and play in the pasture and would like to be #1, but has been the #2 horse for years at our place. Check out the photo of Romeo and his buddy Travis playing tug of war with the dog toy. If you are looking for personality and beauty in a well-trained gelding you have to come visit Romeo. We all love Romeo, so he must go to a really good home.
