Kandakou or “Dax” as he is called is a good natured, 15.1 hand 4 yr old bay gelding with silver highlights in the top of his tail. Dax is a Half-Arabian, Half-Hackney, sired by Katmandu, who was owned by a local Arabian show horse breeder. Katmandu has been a popular cross for English Half-Arab show horses. Dax’s dam is a Wisdom daughter, out of a daughter of the famous sire, *Naborr. Wisdom has been called one of the most look-a-like sons of *Bask. Dax has been under saddle for 18 months in basic dressage training. He has also been ridden lightly on the trails. Dax is a sensible, easy to handle horse with more training than a lot of horses his age. He was purchased by his current owner as a weanling and has been boarded in an Arabian show barn since that time. As a consequence, he is very well mannered. He has had frequent baths, is clipped regularly and stands great in cross ties and for the farrier and vet. However, Dax is much happier in the pasture and prefers minimal stall time. So, his next owner needs to be able to provide good turn out for him. His owner has become more serious about dressage and subsequently purchased a Half-Warmblood, Half-Arabian to pursue the sport, so she is reluctantly offering Dax for sale. Dax has the substance and good mind to make an excellent competitive trail or endurance horse. He would also be a nice riding horse for someone that wanted a combination pleasure horse and lower level dressage horse. He will need more dressage training before being show ready.
