HF Griselda is currently for sale. She is now owned by Bill Harwood, who has been training and showing Arabians at Regional and National Championship shows for over 20 years. So, we expect her training will be progressing significantly over the next few months. Bill's boarding and training facility is located next to Lake Ray Roberts equestrian trails in Aubrey, TX. He will be happy to discuss her training progress and show her to you. Please contact him direct at 817-235-5937.. Griselda is affectionate towards people and is looking for someone that will pay a lot of attention to her and become her new buddy. Her previous owner rode her in several limited distance endurance rides at a middle of the pack pace. Her initial training to be placed under saddle was by a reining horse trainer. So, in the arena she is responsive, listens to her rider and stops and backs well. It has been a few years since her initial arena training, but she could become really good at arena work in a short period of time. She also has a little over 12 months of trail experience with an endurance rider. She is relaxed and enjoys the trail at a walk or slow trot pace and can be ridden alone or comfortably lead a group of horses. At a faster working trot or canter pace on the trail she still requires an intermediate level, confident rider, because she can become anxious if left behind by other horses and can spook if in the lead. Both of her 2 non-completions on her AERC rides were at the same difficult ride in Central Region, called the Hog Scramble. The Hog Scramble is a 30-mile ride with heat, high humidity, deep sand and difficult creek crossings. We think Griselda would be a nice partner for competitive trail or trail riding and could also do limited distance endurance riding with the right rider.
Griselda is an easy keeper and maintains her best weight when ridden frequently. She will gain too much weight if kept on a good grass pasture 24 hours a day and not ridden in a frequent conditioning program. She is a stocky, large boned polish Arabian mare with a lot of substance that can easily carry a middleweight rider. She has mostly had frequent barefoot trims, except for being shod for rocky areas. She is currently at a boarding facility with access to a nice arena and trails.
