Dooley is
entered in the April 2nd 2005 Blue Bonnet 50-Mile
Endurance Ride. We plan to geld him April 5th, so
he is offered for sale as a gelding. If you are
interested in him, but prefer that he be left a
stallion, please contact us before the ride.
DEste Dooley
is a Polish/Russian cross with a great disposition
for endurance. He wasn't put under saddle until
the Spring of 2004. Normally a green stallion would
need to be ridden by a very experienced adult, but
not Dooley. He has been ridden all year by a 15,
now 16 yr old girl.
He has perfect
ground manners and stands happily tied all night
eating and drinking at the endurance rides. He has
not exhibited the normal stallion behavior of posturing
or announcing his presence. He bathes, clips, loads
easily and is well mannered with the vets and farriers.
She even rides him side by side, following or leading
down the trail with Hank's stallion, Envoy.
Dooley is
often the horse we put up front to lead across deep,
wide creeks with steep embankments. He has crossed
wooden bridges, too. He also isn't bothered by traffic
or dogs. One of his rides was the Ft. Worth Skyline
ride that started at the Ft. Worth Stockyards, where
she rode him down a cobblestone street with traffic,
cafes, and bars with loud music, and a lot of bystanders,
etc. That ride also required crossing the Trinity
River on 8 concrete bridges. Even though he is a
mature, race bred horse, perfectly capable of being
a front runner, we have started him slow doing middle
of the pack 25 mile rides for conditioning and training.
He will start in slow 50s this Spring. With his
mind set and the way he eats and drinks we think
he will make a great multi-day or 100-mile horse.
He has really
good bone, sound feet and good conformation. His
sire and grandsire did well on the race track. His
dam's sire is the well known stallion, *Napitok,
imported from the Tersk Stud in Russia who was a
winning race horse in Russia and a Champion English
Pleasure and Ladies SideSaddle horse in the US.
