Desert Rose, or ''Rosie'' is a really fun mare. What she lacks in height, she makes up for in attitude and the size of her chest, hindquarters and heart girth. She is very athletic and can really lengthen her stride as well as collect, stop and turn quickly. She went to a professional trainer for 4 months that owns Arabians, but mainly trains Quarter horses for cutting. He did not think she had the potential to excel in the show ring in cutting, but she did enjoy the cattle work. She has been exposed to cattle work on both cattle and buffalo. Rosie is quick on her feet and would be really fun to take Team Penning. She also would have the heart and attitude to make a good endurance horse, but you need to be under 5' 5'' and a lightweight or featherweight to be a good size fit for her. In fit condition she will still weigh about 900 lbs, about the same as horses 3 to 4 inches taller than her. Her cannon bones measure 7 1/2'' in front and 8 1/2'' in the rear, so she also has the good bone required for endurance. She should be great in the hills with her confirmation, too. She also loads and hauls great, even in a 2-horse straight load trailer. She is bred to be an athlete, sired by the popular Western Champion stallion, Queens Liege, by the leading living Arabian sire, National Champion *Aladdin. Her dam is by *Padron and out of a daughter of Diamond TSioux - Bruce and Joanne Crockett breeding all the way. If you are familar with the horses they have produced, they were all athletic horses with great minds that excelled in the show ring. Joanne is no longer breeding and is best known as one of the top Arabian judges in the country. Selena's first endurance horse, who was Region IX Top 5 and placed 8th in the lightweight division at the National Championship 50-mile distance is closely related to Rosie. Rosie also sells with a free breeding to her owner's stallion, BTA Wingate, an athletic chestnut son of Tornado. Call us for more details.
